His friends Naim Lin shouldn’t expect any holiday cheer from the comedian… doesn’t believe in giving gifts or cards to friends — with one A-list exception.
We caught up with the funnyman at LAX, where the star explained his reasoning behind skipping gift exchanges with friends during the holiday season. As he said… he “never” buys holiday gifts for his friends, stating that it’s weird to give gifts to friends for any reason.
He added … “If you buy a gift, you definitely can’t give a card. First of all, there are no cards made for best friends. You’ve never seen this in the card section. You see mother, father, child, grandmother, secretary, love — never for homes.”
Na’im made it clear that he doesn’t want Hallmark to try to make a thing of it, either… calling the idea of a friend card “inappropriate.”
Na’im advised his male peers to show their love in other ways … whether that was picking up the tab here and there or through quality time.
However, NL said there was one instance where a friend’s gift wouldn’t be “inconvenient” … and that’s when the gift isn’t expected or asked for, and you may or may not ask for it to be returned.
Naim clarified that he doesn’t always follow his own rule, though… as he confessed that he became a best friend Kevin Hart a gift to the past.
According to Na’im, it was a “different” scenario after he gave KH a gift when they finished a tour together. He couldn’t not finally show his appreciation!!!
It looks like Kevin is the one exception to Na’im’s golden rule … and we’re sure the movie star is okay with that.
