Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s daughter suffered a serious health scare!
It led to an emergency room visit. Now, Vuolos stock is doing much better.
But as a pregnant Jinger reports what went wrong, this could have been a lot worse.
Their preschooler was struggling to breathe. And they’re not entirely sure why.
What happened to Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s daughter?
During his last episode The Jinger & Jeremy Podcastheadline Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo discussed various topics, including birthdays.
However, the “hook” for the episode — the teaser they opened it with — was about their 4-year-old daughter, Evangeline.
That all came crashing down during a trip to Texas, where they had “a little problem with one of our kids.”
“[Evangeline] ended up in the ER and it was a bit of a scare…” Jinger admitted.
He summed it up: “These things happen and you have to take the curveballs as they come. Fortunately, he was fine.”
“She just had a little episode with something where a doctor thought she might have inhaled something and aspirated a piece of food and it might have lodged in there,” Ginger explained. “By the time he got a steroid and all that, he was breathing well again.”
Jeremy Vuolo cried out with his memory of their daughter being unwell
“I heard her cough. It’s 10:30 at night,” Jeremy said. “It’s almost like a croupy cough. I run into her room… and she’s kind of hunched over [and] I was having trouble breathing and the cough was hard to get in and out.”
In an uncharacteristically writerly moment, he continued: “Well, I grab her and run out [to go to the hospital].”
“That was just a really scary feeling, just her breathing wasn’t right,” Ginger said. “I think with that we weren’t sure if it was asthma [and] if it was because you had asthma as a child.’
Fortunately, Jeremy noted, as doctors began to run tests: “she was fine, she was stable. It wasn’t turning blue. this was the thing I was looking for.”
He continued: “And the scary thing about asthma is that your breathing starts to constrict, so it becomes less and less, and that can happen quickly.”
Jeremy expressed: “I think the thing that really caught us off guard was that she wasn’t sick at all before. She had the best day – no sign of a cold, no sign of anything that would make you think, “Oh, she’s sick.”
What had actually happened?
“They just gave her a steroid and said if it was Croup, maybe it would help. Whatever they gave her, it helped her so much and we still don’t know exactly what it was,” shared Jinger.
Of course, the two plan to run tests to rule out things like asthma and allergies. They don’t want this to happen again. Especially some night when they might not have woken up to hear Evangeline coughing.
We’re all thankful to hear that Jinger and Jeremy’s 4-year-old daughter is doing better. We hope this horrific incident will never happen again.
